Hazrat Ali R.A (Arabic: علي ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib) (ca. 600-661 CE), also known as Al-Hussein, was the son of Abu Talib and Fatima bint Asad. He is revered by Shia Muslims as an Imam and Caliph, and he established a pure Islamic state in Medina, which is now modern day Saudi Arabia.
He was a descendant of Muhammad through his daughter Fatima Zahra who married Ali’s father Abu Talib. He was the first male to carry the title “Imam” meaning leader or guide.
